  Let's start at the very beginning.  :)  And that would be Firefly - The Complete Series. The DVD set is 40% off at Amazon... the perfect opportunity to get yourself a couple of extra sets to lend out to friends. They also make great Christmas gifts! :)  You can get the scripts for the show here, too.

  Firefly (Original Television Soundtrack). At long last, we finally get our show's soundtrack! Or at least, portions of it. The CD is missing one of the most popular pieces of music from the series, "The Hero of Canton" from the episode "Jaynestown." It is, however, available elsewhere on the internet.

  And then, the Serenity (Widescreen Edition) DVD.  If you haven't seen the movie yet... well, I'm aghast.  See it as soon as possible.  You'll be watching it again and again.

  Serenity (Movie Soundtrack).  This CD is... well, it's the soundtrack, which means it's full of music used to evoke feeling and environment within the movie.  It is, as I've seen it written, "audio wallpaper."  I own it and put it on for background music.  It's worth the purchase, in my opinion, if only to support Joss and crew.

  Serenity: The Official Visual Companion (Paperback) - packed full of the behind the scenes movie info, interviews, and photos that you want to see!  Also, the script is included.  One of my favorite resource materials.

  Finding Serenity: Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly (Paperback) - In this eclectic anthology of essays, former cast member Jewel Staite, "Kaylee," philosopher Lyle Zynda, sex therapist Joy Davidson, and noted science fiction and fantasy authors Mercedes Lackey, David Gerrold, and Lawrence Watt-Evans contribute to a clever and insightful analysis of Firefly.

  Serenity (Paperback) by Joss Whedon, Brett Matthews, Will Conrad. Penned by Whedon and Brett Matthews, who wrote several episodes of Firefly as well as Dark Horse's final Angel comics series and the animated Chronicles of Riddick feature "Dark Fury," Serenity follows a ship full of mercenaries, fugitives and one law-abiding prostitute in their pursuit for fast cash and a little peace along the fringes of space.

  Serenity (Paperback), by Keith R.A. DeCandido. A novelization of the original Firefly pilot episode "Serenity." You'll have to decide for yourself whether or not you like Mr. DeCandido's writing style.

  Serenity Role Playing Game (Hardcover). The Serenity Role Playing Game lets you re-create the action of the 'verse  created by writer/director Joss Whedon. Fly a ship out in the black, take jobs as they come, and always make sure you get paid. Everything you need to get started is right here! All you need is dice, friends, and your imagination. Created with much consultation and input from Joss!

  This isn't the written word - it's about writing.  Screenwriting, to be specific.  It's a DVD of Joss Whedon - The Master at Play.  Feature and television writer Joss Whedon is the beloved creator of such television shows as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly. He made his feature directorial debut with 2005's acclaimed Serenity and was kind enough to sit down at Screenwriting Expo 4 and talk about his career, history, and what inspires him to create.  An in-depth discussion with the master himself, this DVD reveals not only the secrets and stories behind Whedon's classic series and films, but also touches on tools you'll need to elevate your own writing.
